Great Blue Heron Charity Casino Supports Durham Children’s Aid Society 
Patrons visiting the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino in October were greeted by walls of candy and gumballs. The “Bubble Gum Machine of Cash” promotion ran all month giving customers a chance to win their share of $50,000 in cash and prizes.
Also located within the facility was a special rack of candy machines eagerly awaiting people to feed them. Proceeds from this bank of gumball machines were earmarked for the Durham Children’s Aid Society. The “Bubble Gum Machine of Cash” promotion raised $1,023.75 for the charity. The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino topped off this donation with an additional $2,000 to make the total $3,023.75. The Durham Children's Aid Society has been protecting children in our community since 1905. They are responsible for providing child protection services to children under the age of 16 and their families who live in Durham Region. “The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino is thrilled to be able to facilitate this charitable donation”, said Director of Marketing Perry Steiner. Mr. Steiner went on to say, “Credit goes to our fabulous customers and staff who generously gave for this charitable venture”. |

Big Sports Support the 6th Annual Great Blue Heron Charity Golf Classic On Tuesday, September 10th, 2002, the Great Blue Heron’s Sixth Annual Charity Golf Classic teed off for the Port Perry Hospital. 
The annual Great Blue Heron Charity Golf Classic raised a record $60,000 exceeding last year’s amount by $10,000. This amount includes a $10,000 donation from the Baagwating Community Association on behalf of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation who once again contributed generously to this event.
All proceeds are donated to the Community Memorial Hospital Foundation at Lakeridge Health Port Perry (Port Perry Hospital). The money raised will be used to assist in the purchase of much-needed cardiac monitoring equipment. This year’s Great Blue Heron “Wild World of Sports” themed tournament was once again held at Royal Ashburn Golf Club, where 160 golfers had a “home run” of a day of golf, food and prizes. “On behalf of the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino and the Port Perry Community Memorial Foundation, I would like to thank the committees for doing such an outstanding job in raising these much needed funds for the hospital” said Bryan Simcock, General Manager of the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino. “I would also like to sincerely thank all participants, sponsors and volunteers who assisted in making this our most successful tournament to date”. The 7th Annual Charity Golf Classic will hit the green on Wednesday September 10th, 2003. |
